Calliary

Chapter 10

Exporting and printing

How to share a decorated month as an image or save it to Photos, and how to make your calendar and diary into a PDF. Anyone can export images. PDF is a Pro feature.

10-1Sharing as an image and saving to Photos

This turns the month you are viewing into a single picture, exactly as decorated. Events, stickers, notes, photos, and pen drawings all go in. If you are viewing a chosen category, only that category's events go in. Events from categories you hid in “My calendar” do not go into the picture.

Opening “Share as image”

Open it with the share button at the top of the month screen. What opens depends on the calendar you are viewing.

If the table is wider than the screen, swipe sideways to see all of it.

  2. Check the preview.

On iPhone and iPad, the first time you tap “Save to Photos”, the device asks for permission for Calliary to add photos. The prompt says “Used to save images the app makes to Photos. Calliary does not read your photos or send them anywhere.” If you allow it, the picture is saved to the Photos app.

“Calendar page” is a picture of the decorated month page only. “Story (9:16)” puts that page in the middle of a vertical 9:16 background, together with the month title.

Calliary mark

Pictures made on the free plan carry a small Calliary mark in the bottom right corner. On the free plan, “The image carries a small Calliary mark in the corner.” and “With Pro, the image is saved without the Calliary mark.” appear together below the buttons. With Pro, only “With Pro, the image is saved without the Calliary mark.” appears. Pictures made with Pro (including subscription, lifetime, and the free trial period) carry no mark. There is no switch to turn the mark on or off. If you become Pro while the screen is open, the preview is redrawn without the mark.

10-2Saving as a PDF (Pro)

This makes your calendar into a PDF file, one month or one year at a time. Each page of the PDF looks like the decorated month in “Share as image”, and each page is stamped with the year and month. The Calliary mark is not included. You can choose the paper size, so use it for printing.

“Save as PDF” is a Pro feature. On the free plan, a Pro badge appears next to the “Save as PDF” row and the “Create PDF” button, and tapping “Create PDF” opens the purchase screen. You can still choose the options on the free plan.

Making a calendar PDF

  1. Open “Share as image” with the share button on the month screen (“10-1 Sharing as an image and saving to Photos”).

  2. Tap “Save as PDF” below the preview.

  3. Choose “Month” or “Year”.

  4. Choose the period. For “Month”, choose one month from this month back to 36 months ago. For “Year”, choose one year from this year back to 10 years ago. At first, the month you were viewing is selected. If you were viewing a future month, this month is selected. For “Year”, this year is selected at first.

  5. Under “Paper size”, choose “A4” or “Letter”.

  6. If you chose “Year”, choose one of “Mascot”, “Minimal”, and “Month preview” under “Cover”. Below the cover, “You can pick a cover without the character.” appears. The “Minimal” and “Month preview” covers have no character.

  7. Tap “Create PDF”. While it is being made, the button shows “Getting it ready”, and for “Year” it shows which page it is on, as in “3 / 13”.

  8. When it is done, the button changes. On iPhone and iPad, send it to another app with “Share”. On Mac, click “Share” or “Save…”.

If the table is wider than the screen, swipe sideways to see all of it.

If you were viewing a chosen category, only that category's events go in. If you change an option, the PDF already made is discarded and the “Create PDF” button appears again.

Making a diary PDF

You can also gather your diary into a PDF. Open Settings ▸ “My diary” and tap “Save as PDF” at the top of the list.

  1. Choose the period with the “Starts” and “Ends” dates. At first, the 1st of this month through today is selected. You cannot choose dates after today.

  2. Choose the “Paper size” and “Cover”.

  3. Tap “Create PDF”.

If there are no diary entries in the chosen period, “No diary entries in this period” appears and you cannot tap “Create PDF”. Writing the diary is covered in “Chapter 6 Diary”.
