Questions readers ask
Which files does it open?
Comics open as CBZ, CBR, CB7 (7z), ZIP, RAR, PDF or a folder of images, and archives are read without being unpacked. Novels open as TXT, MD or EPUB. Books come in from the Files app, from another app's share sheet, or by dropping them onto the Mac window.
Does translation need the internet, and are my pages uploaded?
After Apple’s language models have downloaded, translation works without an internet connection. Translation runs entirely on your device. Pages and text are not sent anywhere.
What does the free 30-book library mean, and how do I get the extra books?
Without Pro the library holds 30 books at a time, while every feature keeps working. Deleting a book frees its place again. Sharing the app once from the share sheet adds ten more books for good, which makes 40, and Lifetime Pro removes the limit altogether.
Do I have to buy Pro again on the Mac?
No. iPhone, iPad and Mac come from the same App Store record, and the purchase is tied to your Apple Account, so restoring it on the other devices is enough. Family Sharing is turned on for it as well.
Where is my data, and what does iCloud hold?
Book files stay on your device. Small iCloud Drive files sync your reading position, bookmarks in TXT, MD and EPUB books, and folder layout. Posting a benchmark score or connecting MyAnimeList is optional and sends the relevant data to those services.
