16-1App Lock
When you turn on “App Lock”, you have to confirm it's you each time you open Calliary before your calendar and records show. Confirmation uses the method set up on the device: Face ID, Touch ID, or the device passcode on iPhone and iPad, and Touch ID or the login password on Mac. Calliary does not create a separate password of its own.
App Lock is turned on separately on each device. Turning it on on iPhone does not lock Calliary on iPad or Mac. It is off at first.
Turning it on
Tap Settings ▸ “App Lock”. The row description shows the confirmation method this device uses, as in “Protect it with Face ID or a passcode”.
Turn on the “App Lock” switch.
The first time you turn it on on this device, the “Lock the app?” window appears first. Tap “Continue”. If you tap “Later”, App Lock stays off.
Confirm it's you in the “Confirm it's you before turning on App Lock.” window.
The switch turns on only when confirmation succeeds. If confirmation fails or you cancel, the switch goes back to off, and “We couldn't confirm it's you, so App Lock stayed off. Try again.” and “Open Settings” appear below it.
The locked screen
While App Lock is on, opening Calliary shows “Calliary is locked” and “Unlock to see your calendar and your records again.”, and the confirmation window appears. If confirmation fails or you cancel, “That didn't unlock. Try again.” appears below “Unlock”. Tap “Unlock” to confirm again.
While you switch to another app, the Calliary screen is also hidden in the app switcher. On Mac, the main window and the Settings window lock together.
If the table is wider than the screen, swipe sideways to see all of it.
| What | While App Lock is on |
|---|---|
| The Calliary app screen | Shows after you confirm it's you |
| Widgets | Cycle information is hidden |
| Notifications | Not covered |
The Settings screen also says “Every time you open the app, unlock it with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. Widgets hide your cycle info. Notifications aren't covered.”
Turning it off
In Settings ▸ “App Lock”, turn off the switch.
Confirm it's you in the “Confirm it's you before turning off App Lock.” window.
Turning it off also needs a successful confirmation. If confirmation fails or you cancel, the switch goes back to on, and “Couldn't confirm it's you, so App Lock stayed on.” and “Open Settings” appear below it.
16-2Apple Intelligence (Siri and system search)
Calliary can pass event, diary, and cycle information to this device's system search and Siri. Choose what to pass in Settings ▸ “Apple Intelligence” (row description “Choose what Siri and system search can see”).
“What system search and Siri can see” has three switches.
If the table is wider than the screen, swipe sideways to see all of it.
| Switch | At first | What it passes when on | What it does not pass |
|---|---|---|---|
| “Events” | On | Event name, time, location, note, category, and so on | Stickers, photos, and drawings placed on the calendar |
| “Diary” | Off | Diary title and body | |
| “Cycle” | Off | A summary of the next expected period date and today's cycle phase | Logs, symptoms, mood, notes, basal temperature |
When you turn a switch off, what it passed so far is removed from system search and Siri right away. “Cycle” is passed only when you have turned on cycle tracking in the app. Cycle tracking is covered in “Chapter 14 Cycle tracking”.
The information passed is read by system search and Siri on this device. The switches are also set separately on each device.
What Siri can do
Say something like “Add Dentist tomorrow at 3” to Siri and you can check, add, edit, and delete events without opening Calliary. When you delete an event, Siri asks once more to confirm.
16-3Privacy Policy
Calliary stores your records in iCloud (“1-3 Where your records are stored” in “Chapter 1 Calliary at a glance”). Records in My calendar are in your iCloud, and records in a shared calendar are in the iCloud of the person who created that calendar. When you view them on the web, records also travel directly between the browser and iCloud (“Chapter 11 Using Calliary on the web”).
What information Calliary handles and how is all set out in the Privacy Policy. Inside the app, these two places lead to the policy.
- “Privacy Policy” at the bottom of the payment screen
- “Privacy Policy” at the very bottom of the “Privacy details” screen in the cycle settings. That screen summarizes only how cycle information is handled.
